Kinglake Riders Club

"In riding a horse we borrow freedom"  ~Helen Thomson

About Us

We are a small club consisting of approximately 30 members in the truly beautiful and mountainous Kinglake, Victoria!

Rallies are held on the 4th Saturday of each month consisting of a morning of Dressage and followed up with Show Jumping in the afternoon.

Some of our members enjoy competing in both HRCAV and EFA competitions in Dressage, Show Jumping, Horse Trials, Showing, Navigation Rides and regularly seen competing in TTT competitions. Those not competing still enjoy attending monthly rallies, special clinics and having a chat between lessons and during our shared lunch.

About Our Club:

Kinglake Riders Club is a HRCAV affiliated club, with club grounds based at the Kinglake Trust Reserve. We welcome members from the age of 17 onwards.

Weekend Rallies:

Held on the 4th Saturday each month, with 1 hour Dressage & Showjumping lessons in groups of 4 (max). Rally bookings are required by the club meeting before each rally, and times are allocated shortly after.

Everyone brings a plate to share for lunch to help make it a social day.

Instructors cater for all levels from beginners to advanced riders & horses.

We currently have a variety of instructors (including Lisa Bray) attending each rally, focusing on a various areas and aspects of riding and disciplines (primarily dressage and show jumping).

Special Clinics:

Several times throughout the year we hold special clinics. These are generally open only to members but are occasionally open to guests. They include "Ride and Learn" Dressage Days, Cross Country Clinics, Ground Work Lessons just to name a few.

Many of our members regularly compete in various disciplines all around the state, including Dressage, Horse Trials, Showjumping and Showing. We also regularly have teams entered for many of the TTT events. If you have never been to a competition, feel free to ask others members for advice, we are more than happy to help.

We aim to host 1 event each year (generally a Dressage Jackpot). Funds raised are used to subsidize clinics for members and new equipment for our grounds. Members are expected to assist in the lead-up to the event and/or on the day as we all benefit from the proceeds.

Club Uniform:

Our Official Club colors are Navy Blue, Pale Blue and White.

We have a range of uniform (embroidered with the club logo) available for purchase from the club rooms on Rally Days, including T-Shirts, Polar-Fleece Vests & Jumpers. We can arrange to have other items embroidered for you if required. If we don’t have your size, we can order it in.

Navy Blue or Beige jodhpurs are worn with uniform at competitions.

Club Meetings:

Held once a month at the club room to discuss the running of the club - all members are encouraged to attend. We always need committee members to help run the club.

A newsletter is emailed out following each meeting, including any news or club updates, rally times, competition results, etc. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the newsletter.

  • If you arrange with another member to swap rally duty with you, you must advise the duty organiser so that the duty roster can be altered.
  • If you do not turn up for your duty (and have not arranged for someone else to fulfil your duty) the committee has the right to decline your membership when it is up for renewal.
  • If you are not able to make it at short notice, you must call the rally co-ordinator to find out who will be attending the Rally so YOU can find a replacement.
